Dynamics AX, NAV and CRM systems under Microsoft are continuously evolving and improving. With Microsoft technologies you expect that within 2 years your current solution is out of date and so the question is often not what is the best ERP or CRM solution as all Dynamics Solutions are currently out selling the opposition, but when should we upgrade our current version. The general rule of thumb when looking to upgrade is when the benefits outweigh the cost, when new functionality within the systems can do the work that has been previously developed specifically for your system, when the business has some slack to allow time and effort to be devoted to getting the new system right. As always there is more than money at stake, however there are several key factors, don’t delay if the current version has the functionality you require, plan the process and make sure you are working in complete harmony with your Microsoft Partner.
