American Microsoft Dynamics Professionals in business, government and NGOs are achieving some remarkable results. If you’re in a Microsoft Dynamics Job, read on for three inspirational Microsoft case studies on how to harness Dynamics to drive big success in your industry.
CompassLearning
CompassLearning use computers to create an individualised learning experience for children in schools. Their main learning product, Odyssey is used in over 5000 school districts across America.
They were using Oracle until they were sold to a private equity firm, thus losing access to Oracle’s ERP solution. This sent a three month timer ticking in which to transfer to a new system. They decided to switch to Microsoft Dynamics GP due to its low costs and simple administrative system.
Microsoft Gold Partner NextCorp offered CompassLearning SMB Suite: a cloud-based solution renowned for hitting the ground running out of the box. NextCrop’s President. Matthew Woodward explains how “[SMB Suite] required no capital outlay, which was perfect for an organisation with very little time to implement a new ERP offering.”
Because of the ingenuity of Microsoft’s American partners, the learning of thousands of children was protected as Dallas’ NextCrop migrated all data from Oracle, in a mere six weeks.
New Belgium Brewing Company
New Belgium make craft ales which can take up to 16 weeks to brew. Planning demand is therefore essential to the efficient running of the business.
Enter Microsoft Dynamics AX. AX’s predictive analytic features allows New Belgium’s factory producers to temper their production rates to the market’s demands.
This is especially complex in the drinks industry due to the three tier delivery structure that sees the beer produced, sold to independent distributors, then finally finding its way to consumers in restaurants and bars.
New Belgium’s Kaitlyn Poet describes the company before it took on AX. “Before, inventory was kind of all over the place. To manage a number that you have no trust in is pretty difficult. But now, with AX, it’s pretty awesome.”
Ingeniously, New Belgium developed an app called RangerLand to allow their salespeople (Beer Rangers) to effectively communicate with each other, access sales statistics and place orders while on the go, out making sales.
Through the app, the salespeople could schedule events and send performance indicators to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This helps New Belgium manage their brand as they can recap meetings, conduct surveys and view account reports on their mobile devices whist they are representing the brand.
Oregon Lottery
Have you ever stopped to think how big the lottery is? Tens of thousands of tickets, thousands of retailers and billions of dollars need to be tracked in a time and cost-efficient manner for the lottery to succeed.
That’s why the Oregon Lottery chose Microsoft Dynamics AX to replace their ageing Epicor system. This had several benefits. An interface could be set up between the Lottery’s core gaming system and AX. Transactions like sales and pay-outs could then be uploaded to AX overnight while no sales were being made. Furthermore, the interface was automated, replacing a manual system where employees had to enter financial data manually.
Implementing AX, then, allowed the lottery to cut costs on staff through automated data entry, but also through AX’s ability to produce automated reports for retailers. These reports had required support staff, which were now unnecessary.
