Whether you graduated this year or last, you might be starting to think about where – or even if – you’re going to move. Jobs in Dynamics can be found across the UK, as well as the rest of the world. So, with that in mind, here are the five growing tech cities outside of London bursting with  fantastic work opportunities for new and hungry graduates.

Cambridge

While London is undoubtedly the tech centre of the UK for the foreseeable future, Cambridge is nipping at the Capital’s toes, with over 1,400 companies employing more than 53,000 employees. When you twin this level of activity with one of the world’s best universities, you get a city with an electric atmosphere. Companies like RaspberryPi and Crowdsurfer call Cambridge their home, so it’s certainly worth checking out.

Edinburgh

There are currently over 100 digital start-ups in Scotland’s capital city. This fantastic cluster of businesses came to prominence when SkyScanner relocated there in 2003. Others naturally followed. The city is also home to TechCube, an incubator for start-ups and SMEs. Presently, the tech, communication and information job sector brings in £500 million to the city’s economy, and you could be part of it.

Bristol

This coastal city has undergone a whole host of regenerative projects in recent years, from the development of the Bristol and Bath Science Park, to the SETsquared partnership between the two cities’ universities, there has been a real boost in the tech economy in the last handful of years, and Bristol is now a hotspot for graduates. Notable start-ups like SecondSync and Brightpearl have already made the city their home.

Birmingham

You’ve probably heard of Silicon Valley. You might have heard of the Silicon Roundabout. But have you heard of the Silicon Canal? This is Birmingham’s tech hub, and home to well over 20,000 people employed in the digital sector. With five universities, and businesses like Droplet, Soshi Games and Meducaton making the city their home. Birmingham is a thriving tech community and a fantastic city in its own right, but it’s also only an hour and thirty away from London by train.

Leeds

Leeds is known as the UK’s second financial capital outside of London. Therefore, most of the IT and technology jobs available there are in data analysis, fintech and broader data sciences. Companies such as First Direct, Sky, ASDA and Rockstar run their businesses from Leeds, and the city has a reputation as an exploding metropolis where quality of life is high and costs are relatively low (compared to London, for example). Ultimately, we all know that London is home to its relative fair share of tech businesses, and if you’re ready to kick-start your career in Dynamics, it’s a fine place to settle. But there are other options available to you in tech cities outside London. We hope that some of the regions we’ve mentioned above have taken your interest.
