Migrating your business to the cloud is a big decision, but Microsoft’s Bridge to the Cloud 2 promotion makes it easier, more affordable, and less risky than ever. If you’re running Dynamics on-premises (NAV, GP, AX, SL, Business Central, or CRM), this offer could be your best opportunity to modernise your ERP or CRM environment.
Below, we break down exactly how the promotion works, who qualifies, pricing, the process, and how Conspicuous can help you find the right Microsoft partner for your industry and location.
What Is Bridge to the Cloud 2?
Bridge to the Cloud 2 (BTTC2) is a Microsoft promotion that gives eligible Dynamics on-premises customers a 40% discount on most Dynamics 365 cloud licenses for a fixed, non-renewable, 3-year term. This offer is available exclusively through partner-led New Commerce Experience (NCE) subscriptions and runs until December 31, 2025. See the official policy and FAQ (July 2024, PDF)
Who Is Eligible?
You qualify for Bridge to the Cloud 2 if you:
-
Are a commercial customer running Dynamics NAV, GP, SL, AX, Business Central, or CRM on-premises, licensed before September 1, 2022.
-
Have an active Enhancement Plan (EP), or your EP lapsed less than 30 days ago (if lapsed more than 30 days, you must pay back fees, capped at three years—or one year for certain legacy products).
-
Commit to a 3-year, non-cancellable NCE subscription through a Microsoft partner.
-
Are migrating to a functionally similar Dynamics 365 online product (see the official mapping in the policy).
-
Have not previously purchased the same online product via legacy CSP or NCE.
Note: The promotion is not available for EDU or GOV offers and cannot be combined with other discounted transition offers.
Which Products Can You Move From and To?
You can migrate from most Dynamics on-premises perpetual products (purchased via DPL) to functionally similar Dynamics 365 online per-user offers.
Examples:
-
Dynamics NAV/GP/SL/AX → Dynamics 365 Business Central (Essentials, Premium, Device, Team Member)
-
Dynamics AX → Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Project Operations, Human Resources, etc.
-
Dynamics CRM → Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Supply Chain Management, Team Members
For the full mapping, see Exhibit 1 in the official policy document.
How Does the Pricing Work?
-
40% discount on the standard commercial list price for most Dynamics 365 cloud licenses.
-
The discount applies for the entire 3-year term (non-renewable, non-cancellable).
-
You must purchase cloud licenses with an annualised value (after the 40% discount, before partner margin) that is at least equal to your annual EP renewal amount (before partner discount) for your existing on-premises licenses.
-
You must maintain this minimum license value for the full 3 years. If you drop below, you may lose the discount and be liable for EP costs and lapsed fees.
Billing Options:
-
Most eligible products offer triennial, annual, and/or monthly billing, determined by your partner.
-
Regardless of billing frequency, the 3-year term is fixed.
What Are Dual Access and Dual Use Rights?
Dual Access Rights:
-
During the 3-year promotional term, you can continue to use, expand, and upgrade your legacy on-premises system while you complete your migration.
-
You keep EP-like benefits, such as affiliate license transfer.
Dual Use Rights:
-
Most Dynamics 365 online licenses purchased through this promotion include dual use rights, allowing on-premises use of the current online version (and limited prior versions).
-
Dual use rights do not include support, EP benefits, or the ability to add users to your existing on-premises system.
What About $0 Users for Business Central?
If your annualised NCE promotional license cost (after the 40% discount, before partner margin) exceeds twice your annual EP cost, you may request extra licenses at no additional cost (for use during the promotional period) up to a value that does not exceed twice the EP cost.
-
This applies only to customers migrating from a Dynamics concurrent user license product (or who previously transitioned from one) to Dynamics 365 Business Central online.
-
The number of $0 user licenses is determined by Microsoft.
-
$0 user licenses do not carry partner margin.
Can You Get a Discount on Additional On-Premises Users?
Yes!
-
If you need more on-premises perpetual user licenses during migration, you can get a 50% discount on those licenses (full users, team members, devices) if ordered before December 31, 2025.
-
This is a one-time order, and the total retail price (before discount) cannot exceed 25% of your existing on-premises license PLP.
-
The discount also applies to the support plan (EP) for the added users.
What Is the Ordering Process?
-
Check eligibility and licensing requirements.
-
Order the promotional offer via your partner in Partner Center, selecting the “New Commerce Experience” and “Bridge to the Cloud 2” promotion with the 3-year term and 40% discount.
-
Notify Microsoft Operations (ROC) to extend your on-premises EP benefits (contact details in the policy).
-
Maintain compliance throughout the promotional period.
