A growing and innovative privately held company is seeking a Controller to join its Finance team at the corporate headquarters in Chicago. This is a dynamic role that offers the chance to work in a creative and forward-thinking environment, supporting the CFO and playing a key part in shaping the financial direction of the organization.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, loves solving problems, and is driven by outcomes and continuous improvement. The company is specifically looking for someone with multi-entity accounting experience and strong ERP system expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as a strategic partner to the CFO in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
  • Oversee the general ledger and manage all aspects of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings
  • Lead the process for monthly revenue recognition and financial reporting
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of subsystem data
  • Research complex accounting issues and recommend solutions that align with GAAP
  • Ensure financial accuracy across all areas including assets, liabilities, revenue, and cash flow
  • Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate risk and improve compliance
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve outcomes
  • Support the CFO with financial planning, budgeting, and analysis efforts
  • Provide cross-functional support and serve as a backup to other team members when needed

What They’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
  • 6–8 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably in a multi-entity environment
  • Experience with ERP systems such as MS-Dynamics, Acumatica, or similar
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort with financial data analysis
  • Proven ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a creative, outcome-driven environment
